Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep at Schoolhouse Arts Center from September 27-30

Schoolhouse Arts Center will present Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep from September 27-30.  Raw, funny, painful and nostalgic, Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep is a powerful reminder of what it’s like to be a teenager.  The one-act play was written and directed by longtime high school teacher Jerry Walker, who has captured haunting echoes of former students in a series of poignant vignettes – bullets of universal truth – that highlight every adolescent’s need for supportive family and friends.  They are called the best four years of our lives...and they are. Memories made in high school range from that first magical kiss to the last dance at Junior Prom: but high school isn't just dreamy-eyed romance. That four-year trek is also fraught with uncertainty, betrayal, danger, stress, love, hate, and fear.  Although times have changed, the basic stories remain the same. Come join the teenagers of Schoolhouse Arts Center as we share this evocative story. Even if high school is but a distant dream now; if you think your children's children would be more likely to identify, you too will lose yourself in the flood of emotions, memories, and the honest storytelling of Jerry Walker's Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep.

Performances of Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep will be held from September 27-30, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2:00 p.m.  Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for students and seniors.  Schoolhouse Arts Center is located at 16 Richville Road (Route 114) in Standish, just north of the intersection of Route 114 and Route 35.  Call 642-3743 for reservations or buy tickets on-line at www.schoolhousearts.org.  Not appropriate for younger children due to mature themes.
